1. What is Akoha?
Akoha offers real-world activities for you to discover life's special moments, capture them, and share them with friends.
The web and iPhone application feature:
- - A significant number of missions, which can be played individually or with friends
- - An expanded number of categories that offer excuses to have fun, while discovering and experiencing new things
- - The introduction of awards to celebrate Akoha players for completing missions.
- - Integration with Twitter so mission achievements can be quickly shared.
- - A completely redesigned Web site where users can be part of a community, play missions and leave comments on others players’ missions.
2. How do I sign in?
You can create a free account in seconds from the homepage by clicking “Sign Up Now” and choosing a username and password.
The next time you come to the site, click “Login” at the top right of the page. If you check the box next to “Remember Me”, Akoha will set a cookie to store your password for 3 weeks.
3. What are “missions”?
Missions are simple and fun activities that let you interact with the world around you in a positive way and get feedback from your friends.
Missions come in different categories to suit your mood and interests. Some missions will allow you to play with a friend or family member. Once you’ve completed a mission, your friends on Akoha will be able to see it in their News Feed and comment on it.
To get started playing a mission, click on “Browse Missions” in the global navigation and choose a category.
4. How do I complete missions?
Every mission on Akoha has simple instructions that tell you how to complete it. This may involve answering a question, uploading a photo, and/or verifying your location.
To complete a mission, follow the instructions for the mission you’ve playing and click the button “Complete this Mission.”
5. How do I find more missions?
Click “Browse Missions” in the global navigation and browse the categories for new missions that interest you. You can also click on “News Feed” and check out which missions your friends have played.
6. What's the difference between “Easy,” “Medium,” and “Hard” missions?
Easy missions take the least amount of time and effort to complete and can generally be played from anywhere. It’s a good idea to start with one of these. Average time to complete: 1-5 minutes
Medium or “Med” missions may require a bit more effort on your part, such as finding the perfect spot and verifying your location, or taking the time to really capture the perfect photo and upload it. Average time to complete: 5-15 minutes
Hard missions may involve more than one player to complete, and may ask you to try something new or take advantage of the unpredictable. If you’re looking for a new and fun experience to try with a friend or family member, these are for you! Average time to complete: 15-45 minutes
7. What are bookmarked missions?
Bookmarked missions are missions that you’ve chosen to play later, or simply put aside to review at a later date. To access your bookmarked missions, simply click on “Your Missions” in the global navigation and refer to the “Bookmarked Missions” tab.
8. Where can I find missions I've played?
To browse through the missions that you’ve already completed, click on “Your Missions” at the bottom of your screen and then click the “Completed Missions” tab.
9. How do I update my profile picture?
To change your profile picture, please sign in and click “Profile.” From there you can update your picture by clicking “Edit Profile Picture.” and uploading a new photo.
10. Can I suggest new missions?

11. What is the “News Feed”?
The News Feed is the central hub of Akoha where you can see all of your friends’ recent activity. To see your News Feed, click “News Feed” in the global navigation.
12. What are “awards”?
Awards are rewards that you’ll earn while you play missions on Akoha. As you browse, play missions and interact with the Akoha community, some Awards will automatically appear. You can always view the Awards you’ve received by visiting your Profile page and viewing the “Achievements” tab.
13. How do I earn awards?
There are many ways to earn awards on Akoha – the important thing to remember is be active! You can earn awards by: - completing missions - gifting your friends (via our web site) - browsing the web site - commenting on your friends’ activities (via our web site) - finishing an extra-challenging mission - bringing your friends to Akoha
The more you act, the more chances you have of receiving Awards. To get started playing a mission, click on “Browse Missions” in the global navigation and then choose a category.
14. How do I update my status?
To update your status, tap “News Feed” at the bottom of your screen, and then tap the “Update Your Status” button at the upper right corner of your screen. Then follow the instructions and tap “Post Update.” Your status update will then appear on Akoha and on Twitter (if you have checked the box to post to Twitter).
15. What does it mean to "follow" someone?
If you follow someone on Akoha, it means that you will see their activity on Akoha in your News Feed. If someone is following you, then they will see your activity on Akoha. If you no longer wish to see a person’s updates in your News Feed, simply click “Unfollow” on that person’s profile page.
16. How do I connect with my friends?
You can connect with your friends on Akoha in several ways. To begin, click on “Friends” in the global navigation and then click the “Invite Friends” button at the right of the page.
17. How do I update my profile?
To update your profile, use your Akoha login to sign into your account, click on “Profile,” then click the tab “Profile Details” to change your information and save. If you are using the iPhone application, your new profile information will be automatically synched to the Akoha on your iPhone.
18. How do I leave a comment on a mission?
To post a comment on someone’s recent activity, such as a completed mission or status update, please click on the activity and then click on “Comment.” You’ll be able to see the comments on your iPhone if you are using the Akoha iPhone application.
19. What are “gifts”?
You can exchange gifts with friends as special rewards for completed missions. To give someone a gift for completing a mission, just click on the link “Give a gift!” and choose an item. iPhone users will see the gifts you’ve sent and received as well.
20. Is Akoha available on other smartphones?
Currently, Akoha is only available for the iPhone (download app here). Please sign up for email at http://www.akoha.com to be notified of future releases.
21. What happened to the Akoha cards and decks?
Physical cards were used in our beta test phase in 2008-2009, and were discontinued in December 2009. Although the concept was very popular, our tests proved that it was not the best way to reach our goal - to make millions of peoples' lives more meaningful and fun.

22. What is http://historical.akoha.com ?
Following the end of our beta phase, we moved over the card-based version of Akoha to a http://historical.akoha.com for a transition period of three months which ended in June 2010. We invite you to try the new and improved version at Akoha.com, which includes all the feedback that we've received from our users over time.
